Everyone is different and special. Everyone needs love. Some people are extra special and need more love. Be kind to all. They need your love, not mercy. Your smile, not frown.

I’ve always been intrigued with special needs children since I was young. What I enjoy about working with special kids is that there is no one-way to connect with them. Every special needs child is different from one another. I love to discover the unique ways to connect to each one of them.

Even though I’m their teacher, these kids have also taught me a lot. For instance, I’ve learned how to love differently. This has often encouraged me to find ways to show them that I’m able to understand them and provide them enough love and support to help them to improve their lives. The best part is seeing the improvements in them, which provides me with the sheer enthusiasm to keep doing what I’m doing – that is to stand by them,

Special Education is not for everyone. It is difficult yet interesting. There will be a lot of challenges but also you can get great satisfaction when you see improvements in the children. What inspired me to be in this field is because of the challenges that come with teaching special kids. I also get great satisfaction when I’m able to improve the lives of these children. I truly enjoyed the Diploma in Special Education (Early Years) course. One experience that is unique to me is how fast I felt comfortable around the people in Kolej Dika especially with my lecturers and classmates. Our team grew close and strong as we helped each other to go through each semester together.

My ambition is to own a center for children with special needs in the future. My motto in life is that “Everyone is different and special, everyone needs love. Some people are extra special and need more love. Be kind to all. They need your love, not mercy. Your smile and not a frown.”
