College’s homecoming event draws more than 200 education gradutes

KOLEJ Dika in Puchong Selangor, held its first alumni reunion, 12 years after it was established

The reunion with the theme “A Day to Remember”, was held at Empure Hotel Subang and attended y more than 200 alumni who are now educators and advocates of early childhood education (ECE) in the country.

Kolej Dika chairman Tan Sri Dr Abdul Rahmad Arshad, in his speech, said he was proud to see the institution grow over the years to become a prominent name in the field of ECE in Malaysia.

He said the college had always aspired to cultivate teachers who go beyond merely transfering knowledge.

“Teacher at Kolej Dika are inspired to teach young children to be independent and knowledgeable”  he said.

Dr Abdul Rahman added that teaching young children was a creative process and called on the alumni to keep up with advancement in the ECE field, locally and internationally.

Kolej Dika Chief Executive officer Pua Chee Ling said she was proud to see so many alumni attend the gathering to meet friends and faculty members.

“We had students from our first cohort and almost every other cohort since then join us for this reunion.

“it aslo provided them the opportunity to network with like-minded people who are committed to ECE,” she said in congratulation the organizing committee for a job well done.

Kolej Dika senior lecturer and adviser to the Homecoming Committee Mohan Dallumal said it was a memorable days as many of them were meeting each other after 12 years.

“Kolej Dika was and is our home where we cared, shared and grew together. It was good to hear the laughter and see the smiles of everyone,” he said.

To commemorate the milestone, Kolej Dika’s faculty performed a special song with lyrics that recalled the institution’s journey and values.

The occasion was made more memorable as Dr Abdul Rahman’s birthday was also celebrate with a cake cutting ceremony.

Kolej Dika was established in 2005, with only four students in its pioneer intake.

Since then more than 500 graduates have walked through the doors of the institution.

Among the course offered are the Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Diploma in Special Education (Early Years) and Executive Diploma in Early Childhood Education.
