Top 5 Best Student Award, Class of 2016
Aspiration – I believe children are the seeds and education is the nourishment they need. Therefore, I hope to setup a ‘kinder-garden’ to nurture young children with different abilities and unfold their hidden talents, to help them shine in their own individual way. Working with children is always fun. I hold true to the motto of when there’s a will, there’s a way. God always leave one door open and it is up to you to choose whether to remain static or to move forward. One advice that I would give is to always be true to yourself and determination will get you to where you want to be one day.
Family Support – I would say that the support I got from my husband, children and my parents was the key factor towards my success. They respected my decision to pursue my Diploma in Early Childhood Education in Kolej Dika and gave me unconditional love and support. I would never have made it without my family.
Self effort – It took a lot of self-discipline to ensure that I had a balanced life between studying part time and juggling other important aspects of my life including my family, my friends, my health and my work. I understand that life is full of obstacles and I always remind myself to have faith and be positive. Everything happens for a reason and I learnt not to blame my problems, but instead, overcome them slowly and see it as a way to mould me into a better person.
Academic Endeavour -Throughout my studies, I found that I had made the right choice selecting Kolej Dika. Not only because it was affordable and cheaper than other institution, but it was also very near to my parents’ house in Bandar Puchong Jaya. My father was diagnosed with cancer by the time I enrolled, but I was grateful that the location of Kolej Dika gave me the opportunity to visit my parents and spend more time with them.
Study hours were flexible, where I had a selection of weekday or weekend classes. My favourite class was the holiday intensive class, as students work more effectively due to the time limit. I learnt quite a lot from my lecturers in Kolej Dika. They are open-minded, very approachable and supportive. Our lecturers were always ready to impart their knowledge and experiences to us, which helped us better understand the world of children and minimize any potential mistakes we may make in the future. They are my role-model because their never-stop-learning spirit encourages me to keep moving forward. The courses in Kolej Dika offer comprehensive modules. I especially love the excursion visits and also different talks by professional speakers who gave us practical advices, because it gave us an opportunity to better understand the industry and current issues in Early Childhood Education.
